Prince William
Prince William Arthur Philip Louis was born at 9.03pm on the 21st June, 1982, at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London. He is the elder son of The Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, and at his birth he became (and still is) the second in line to the throne of the United Kingdom, after his father.On 4th August 1982, Prince William Arthur Philip Louis was christened with water from the River Jordan by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Robert Runcie, in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace, coinciding with the 82nd birthday of the Queen Mother.
Unlike previous heirs to the throne, who were educated at home by private tutors, Prince William begun his education at Mrs Mynors School in Notting Hill Gate, West London. After which he became a pupil at Wetherby School in London, until the age of eight, were he then attended a boarding school called Ludgrove, in Berkshire. Princess Diana and Prince Charles initially didn't want to send Prince William to a boarding school, however, because of security reasons, a compromise was reached.
At the age of thirteen, Prince William continued his education at Eton College, an all boys school near Windsor, in Berkshire and regularly took tea with the Queen at the castle on the hill, where they would discuss his future Royal duties. He studied Geography, Biology and History of Art at A Level.
On August 31, 1997, Prince William (then 15-years-old) awoke to the news that his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales had died in a car accident in Paris. Her funeral took place at Westminster Abbey on 6th September 1997.
After leaving Eton College, Prince William took a gap year, during which he visited Chile, Belize and counties in Africa. He then continued his education at St Andrews University in Fife, Scotland where he achieved a 2:1 honours degree in geography.
After a brief period of work experience, Prince William then enrolled in the Military and was commissioned as an army officer in front of Her Majesty The Queen at Sandhurst in December 2006 and went onto become a Second Lieutenant in the Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry - serving with his brother Prince Harry.
As of 2010, Prince William has completed his generic helicopter training and is now at the RAF Valley's Search and Rescue Training Unit, training on the Sea King search and rescue helicopter.

- He cannot fly in the same plane as his father, for fear of an accident that might take the lives of two future kings.
- For his 17th birthday, Price Charles reportedly gave William his first car, a VW Golf.

- In honour of William's 21st birthday, the Royal Mail in the United Kingdom issued a stamp with his face on it. Over twenty million were sold.
- William has said he gave up playing hockey because a friend had his teeth knocked out.
- Every winter, William goes skiing in Switzerland with his father and his brother Prince Harry.
- William is often called Wills. As a child, his parents nicknamed him 'Wombat'.
- William has been President of the Football Association, governing body of English football, since May 2006. He took over the role from his uncle, the Duke of York.
